The JUCONI Contribution

In spite of the large body of investigative data that demonstrates the profound damage that such stress causes, there is precious little methodology that effectively incorporates it in working with vulnerable populations affected by violence. Few organizations and practitioners in this field have the knowledge, resources, or ability to develop effective solutions to the problems that violence and poverty create. Likewise, few donors or public policy makers are willing to support trauma informed methodologies.

The JUCONI Foundation is leader in the field of developing effective solutions for marginalized populations. For 20 years, JUCONI has sought out and provided services for street-involved children and families.

Through its uniquely integrated and therapeutic approach that recognizes the importance of the family in sustaining a child’s positive changes, JUCONI demonstrates that the negative, intergenerational cycles of violence and poverty can be broken.

In November 2008, JUCONI won the UNICEF award for best practice for its achievements in family work and the adaptability of its model in other contexts and countries.
