  Technical Support Centre (TSC)
JUCONI believes in sharing its experience and successful practices with other civil society organizations and government agencies in order to contribute to the general improvement of services for street-involved and other excluded children, both in Mexico and world-wide. JUCONI’s Technical Support Centre (formerly known as the Training and Advisory Centre) was founded for this purpose.

Established in 2001, the TSC is a resource and support centre for those working with excluded and vulnerable children and their families. It makes available the educative-therapeutic methodologies developed through JUCONI’s extensive experience working with street-involved children and families in Mexico and Ecuador, with continual input from international experts in related fields. In 2003, in collaboration with ChildHope UK, the TSC was given financial support by the European Commission in order to develop its services and increase the scale of its work with other organizations and its advocacy of more effective methods for working with excluded and vulnerable children and families.

The Technical Support Centre operates in four main areas.

  Methodology Development Programme
Educative-therapeutic methodology is developed through use in the JUCONI programmes providing the children and families in those programmes with the best service possible; methods, techniques and tools are evaluated, adapted and systematized so they can be learned and used by new workers in JUCONI and transmitted to others outside JUCONI.

  Methodology Information Services
Information is available for workers in our field about the drastic effects of trauma and attachment disorders on excluded and vulnerable children, and about the educative-therapeutic methodology, tools and materials that can help children heal and be able to participate fully in society; other areas of information available include, systematization and evaluation.

  Technical Support Services (TSS)
Available to NGOs and government institutions, in Mexico and internationally, these services include fully designed but adaptable programmes on personalized educative-therapeutic work with children, working with families, working with children in residential environments, evaluation, and also seminars, consultancy, etc. on request.

  Advocacy of Effective Practice
In addition to promoting children’s rights in general, this advocacy is aimed at getting NGOs working with excluded and vulnerable children, and relevant government departments, funding agencies, etc., to recognize the need for educative-therapeutic work in programmes for such children in order to attend to trauma and attachment disorders, as well as the need for reliable evaluation of programmes.
