Technical Support Program
Background
Few organizations have the resources to develop or adapt for themselves approaches which meet
the complexity of street involved and emotionally damaged children’s need and build the emotional
stability and skills necessary for lasting social integration. Yet organizations throughout the
world are deeply involved with the most vulnerable children and, given adequate support and tools,
are well placed to provide quality attention. In 2001 and at the behest of several donors, JUCONI
initiated a training program designed to fill this void. The JUCONI Technical Support Program is
designed to share comprehensive trauma informed solutions with other programs working with socially
excluded children both in Mexico and abroad.
JUCONI is well positioned to disseminate best practices due to it’s:
- Two decades of experience in working directly with marginalized children and families.
- Strong ties to international experts who provide continual expertise on topics like
trauma, attachment and individual and family therapy.
- Demonstrated capacity to test and adjust cutting edge methodologies in the Mexican
context (scarce resources, sparse government support, and unlicensed staff) via the programs
for 350 children and 120 families.
- Developed ability to monitor, evaluate and systematize best-practices.
- Capacity to communicate and share this learning with under resourced programs.
Since 2001, the JUCONI Technical Support Program has grown exponentially.
Via this program, JUCONI is able to positively impact the lives of thousands of
children around the world.
